Materials come in 4 rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary. You use them to unlock and enhance Fighting Styles. Coins pay for exchanges and enhancing.

Island materials

Each island has its own materials, and they match the Fighting Style you unlock there. Enhancing a style uses its common, rare and epic materials. Its legendary material is its Essence.

The exchange that unlocks a Fighting Style costs all four tiers: common, rare, epic and legendary. The island's boss can also drop the style.
